How to say “I've finished ...” in Spanish

Say that a task or piece of work is complete.

He terminado …

I've finished …

Name the completed item and add a next step if useful.

Use it in three situations

  1. A work update

    Terminé el primer borrador.

    I've finished the first draft.

  2. Reporting a completed section

    Terminé el informe.

    I've finished the report.

  3. Confirming a delivery

    Terminé de revisar los detalles.

    I've finished checking the details.

What to watch for

Finishing one task does not necessarily mean the whole project is complete.

Read the whole expression before replacing a detail. The natural wording may use a different order or construction from the English sentence.

A note on speaking Spanish

These guides use broadly understandable Latin American Spanish. Tú is familiar and usted is respectful or formal, with important regional variation. Me gustaría and ¿podría …? are useful for considerate requests.

Keep accent marks and opening question marks. Some regions choose different everyday words. Follow the complete example rather than substituting English words one by one, especially with pronouns and expressions of preference.
