Why speaking matters
Why saying words out loud helps them stick
Reading a word list teaches you to recognize a word. Using it in a sentence, out loud, teaches you to produce it when you need it. That is the skill a real conversation asks for.
ChatPal is built around that second step: you pick a scenario, speak, and get feedback, so the words on this page become words you can actually say.

FAQ
Learning Korean vocabulary
What Korean words should a beginner learn first?
Start with 안녕하세요 (annyeonghaseyo), 감사합니다 (gamsahamnida), 네 (ne), 아니요 (aniyo), and 주세요 (juseyo) for requests. Add the names of drinks and foods you actually order.
Do I need Hangul to use these Korean word lists?
You can begin with the romanization shown under each entry. Learn Hangul alongside it: English letters cannot show every Korean vowel, tense consonant, or sound change accurately.
Are these Korean phrases polite?
Most complete requests and greetings use polite everyday speech or a common formal expression. Dictionary forms ending in -다 need conjugation before you use them as ordinary spoken sentences; intimate forms are labeled where relevant.
Does Korean vocabulary change between North and South Korea?
Some words and spellings differ. These lists use contemporary South Korean vocabulary. Loanwords such as 커피 (keopi) and 택시 (taeksi) reflect that choice.
