Ask for a progress update naturally in Hindi

An update request can be conversational, tied to a specific delivery, or considerate of a colleague's time. Name the subject so the person knows what information is needed.

Three ways to say it

  1. परियोजना कैसी चल रही है?pariyojna kaisi chal rahi hai?

    How is the project going?

Ask about progress in a routine colleague conversation.

  2. क्या डिलीवरी के बारे में कोई नई जानकारी है?kya delivery ke baare mein koi nai jaankaari hai?

Do you have an update on the delivery?

Request new information about a specific delivery.

  3. जब आपको समय मिले, तो क्या आप बता सकते हैं कि काम कहाँ तक पहुँचा है?jab aapko samay mile, to kya aap bata sakte hain ki kaam kahan tak pahuncha hai?

When you have a moment, could you let me know where things stand?

Ask for the current status while acknowledging the person's availability.

Avoid translating word by word

English 'where things stand' asks about the current state of progress, not where objects are physically standing. Use the complete expression for status or progress shown in the target language.

Following up about a delivery

आपने कल मुझसे डिलीवरी के बारे में पूछा था।aapne kal mujhse delivery ke baare mein poochha tha.

You asked me about the delivery yesterday.

क्या डिलीवरी के बारे में कोई नई जानकारी है?kya delivery ke baare mein koi nai jaankaari hai?

Do you have an update on the delivery?

A note on speaking Hindi

These examples generally use respectful आप (aap). Familiar तुम (tum) changes the verb ending, and तू (tu) can sound too intimate or disrespectful in the wrong relationship. Where gender changes a first-person form, choose the version that describes the speaker.

Read the Devanagari alongside the romanization. Romanization is a reading aid rather than an exact description of every sound. Everyday Hindi can use familiar loanwords, while a literal English word order may sound unnatural.
