Express uncertainty naturally in Hindi
Separate what you know from what you think might be true. A tentative belief, a possibility, or an invitation to check lets the other person judge the information appropriately.
Three ways to say it
मुझे लगता है कि यह नौ बजे शुरू होता है।mujhe lagta hai ki yah nau baje shuroo hota hai.
I think it starts at nine.
Give a likely start time while marking it as your belief.
शायद आज यह बंद हो।shaayad aaj yah band ho.
It might be closed today.
Mention a possibility rather than claiming that the shop is definitely closed.
मुझे यकीन नहीं है। क्या हम जाँच सकते हैं?mujhe yakeen nahin hai. kya ham jaanch sakte hain?
I'm not certain. Could we check?
State uncertainty directly and suggest verification.
Avoid translating word by word
English 'might' marks possibility here; it is not the noun meaning strength. Languages express possibility through different verbs, adverbs, or endings, so keep the complete uncertainty pattern.

Recalling an event's start time
यह कितने बजे शुरू होता है?yah kitne baje shuroo hota hai?
What time does it start?
मुझे लगता है कि यह नौ बजे शुरू होता है।mujhe lagta hai ki yah nau baje shuroo hota hai.
I think it starts at nine.
Checking whether a shop is open
क्या आज दुकान खुली है?kya aaj dukaan khuli hai?
Is the shop open today?
शायद आज यह बंद हो।shaayad aaj yah band ho.
It might be closed today.
Your turn
You are not certain about a detail. Say so and ask whether you can check it together.

A note on speaking Hindi
These examples generally use respectful आप (aap). Familiar तुम (tum) changes the verb ending, and तू (tu) can sound too intimate or disrespectful in the wrong relationship. Where gender changes a first-person form, choose the version that describes the speaker.
Read the Devanagari alongside the romanization. Romanization is a reading aid rather than an exact description of every sound. Everyday Hindi can use familiar loanwords, while a literal English word order may sound unnatural.
