Offer help naturally in Hindi

A good offer gives someone a choice. You can offer general help, suggest checking together, or name a household task you can take over.

Three ways to say it

  1. क्या मैं आपकी मदद कर सकता / सकती हूँ?kya main aapki madad kar sakta / sakti hoon?

Can I give you a hand?

Offer help with a visible practical task.

  2. क्या आप चाहेंगे / चाहेंगी कि हम इसे साथ में जाँचें?kya aap chaahenge / chaahengi ki ham ise saath mein jaanchen?

Would you like me to check it with you?

Offer a shared check while leaving the person free to accept.

  3. अगर मदद हो, तो मैं बर्तन धो सकता / सकती हूँ।agar madad ho, to main bartan dho sakta / sakti hoon.

I can take care of the washing-up if that helps.

Name a specific task you can handle if it would be useful.

Avoid translating word by word

English 'give you a hand' is an offer of help, not an offer of a body part. Some languages share a hand idiom and others prefer a help verb; the examples use a natural local expression.

See the difference in context

Someone carrying several bags

मुझे बहुत सारे बैग उठाने हैं।mujhe bahut saare bag uthaane hain.

I have a lot of bags to carry.

क्या मैं आपकी मदद कर सकता / सकती हूँ?kya main aapki madad kar sakta / sakti hoon?

Can I give you a hand?

Someone unsure about their answers

मुझे इन जवाबों का यकीन नहीं है।mujhe in javaabon ka yakeen nahin hai.

I'm not sure about these answers.

क्या आप चाहेंगे / चाहेंगी कि हम इसे साथ में जाँचें?kya aap chaahenge / chaahengi ki ham ise saath mein jaanchen?

Would you like me to check it with you?

Your turn

Offer to take care of washing the dishes if that would help. Make the offer specific and optional.

A note on speaking Hindi

These examples generally use respectful आप (aap). Familiar तुम (tum) changes the verb ending, and तू (tu) can sound too intimate or disrespectful in the wrong relationship. Where gender changes a first-person form, choose the version that describes the speaker.

Read the Devanagari alongside the romanization. Romanization is a reading aid rather than an exact description of every sound. Everyday Hindi can use familiar loanwords, while a literal English word order may sound unnatural.
