Disagree politely naturally in Hindi

You can disagree while showing that you have heard the other person's view. State a different perspective, question a choice, or invite another option without pretending to agree.

Three ways to say it

  1. मैं समझता / समझती हूँ, लेकिन मेरी राय अलग है।main samajhta / samajhti hoon, lekin meri raay alag hai.

I understand, but I see it differently.

Acknowledge the view and state that you see it differently.

  2. मुझे यकीन नहीं कि यह सबसे अच्छा विकल्प है।mujhe yakeen nahin ki yah sabse achchha vikalp hai.

I'm not sure that's the best option.

Express doubt about a proposed choice without dismissing the person.

  3. क्या हम कोई और संभावना देख सकते हैं?kya ham koi aur sambhaavna dekh sakte hain?

Could we look at another possibility?

Move the discussion toward considering another possibility together.

Avoid translating word by word

English 'I see it differently' describes an opinion, not eyesight. Use the full expression for having a different view; a literal visual description may sound as though you are discussing what you can physically see.

See the difference in context

Choosing between prices and other qualities

मुझे लगता है हमें सस्ता वाला चुनना चाहिए।mujhe lagta hai hamein sasta vaala chunna chaahiye.

I think we should choose the cheaper one.

मैं समझता / समझती हूँ, लेकिन मेरी राय अलग है।main samajhta / samajhti hoon, lekin meri raay alag hai.

I understand, but I see it differently.

Discussing whether to cancel an event

पूरा कार्यक्रम रद्द कर देते हैं।poora kaaryakram radd kar dete hain.

Let's cancel the whole event.

मुझे यकीन नहीं कि यह सबसे अच्छा विकल्प है।mujhe yakeen nahin ki yah sabse achchha vikalp hai.

I'm not sure that's the best option.

Your turn

You want to keep the discussion constructive. Ask whether you can consider another possibility together.

A note on speaking Hindi

These examples generally use respectful आप (aap). Familiar तुम (tum) changes the verb ending, and तू (tu) can sound too intimate or disrespectful in the wrong relationship. Where gender changes a first-person form, choose the version that describes the speaker.

Read the Devanagari alongside the romanization. Romanization is a reading aid rather than an exact description of every sound. Everyday Hindi can use familiar loanwords, while a literal English word order may sound unnatural.
