FAQ
Home, Clothes & Daily Life in Italian: common questions
What is the difference between casa and a casa?
La casa is the house or home. A casa means "at home" or "home" as a direction, with no article: sono a casa (I'm at home), vado a casa (I'm going home).
How do I ask to try something on in Italian?
Say Posso provarlo? for a masculine item like il maglione, or Posso provarla? for a feminine one like la giacca. The ending matches the item.
How do Italian clothing sizes work?
Italian sizes use their own numbers, so a women's 42 in Italy is roughly a US 6. Ask Che taglia porta? (What size do you wear?) or check the label.
