Emotions & Descriptions in French

French adjectives agree with the person or thing they describe, so a tired man is fatigué and a tired woman is fatiguée. Often the two sound the same, but in writing the extra e matters. These words help you say how you feel and describe people, places, and things.

Why do French adjectives have two forms?

They agree with the noun. Most add an e for feminine (petit, petite), and some change more (heureux, heureuse). Adjectives that already end in -e, like triste, stay the same.

Say je m'ennuie. Be careful: je suis ennuyeux means "I am boring", which is not what you want to say.
